The Sixers have officially ruled out Joel Embiid for Monday’s game against the Miami Heat. The reigning MVP did not even make the trip to Florida, according to the team.
This certainly doesn’t come as a shock. Embiid looked very hobbled during the second half of Friday’s win against the Toronto Raptors. He also did not participate in Saturday morning’s practice, though it is worth noting that he has not been ruled out for Wednesday’s contest in Orlando.
The Sixers are still searching for their first win without the big fella in the lineup this season. They are 0-3 so far, losing those matchups by an average of nine points.
The rest of the injury report has actually started to thin out. Nico Batum also remains out, but Mo Bamba has been upgraded to probable. Robert Covington remains probable as well.
De’Anthony Melton and Patrick Beverley are no longer listed.
And with the Sixers a little thing on big men, recent two-way signee Kenneth Lofton, Jr. will be with the team and available against the Heat.
