On today’s episode of The Gastroenteritis Blues, Steve, Emily and Dan start by celebrating Joel Embiid’s 4-year, $196 million supermax contract extension with the Sixers. They also discuss the Sixers’ 2021/2022 schedule, the reported layoffs with Sixers staff, Grant Riller’s arrival, and bid farewell (for now) to their Damian Lillard hopes.

Then! Steve and Emily are joined by Tanking to the Top author and journalist for Fox Sports Yaron Weitzman. Yaron has written two especially revealing articles detailing Ben Simmons’ relationship with the Sixers, and the Gastro Gang wanted to discuss them in greater detail with the writer, himself. They ask Yaron about how things between the star and the franchise got to this point, what Simmons’ relationship with Doc Rivers has been like, how much acrimony currently exists between Simmons and Joel Embiid, and what the path forward is now for all parties, with stars like Lillard and Bradley Beal seemingly off the table for the remainder of the offseason. Yaron also shares his opinion on whether or not the Sixers could realistically enter the season with Simmons on the roster.

Enjoy!
