Sixers to finish off road back-to-back against Chicago Bulls

The Philadelphia 76ers are on the road Monday evening, heading to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bulls. The Sixers enter at 43-21, holding a half-game lead over the Brooklyn Nets for 1st place in the Eastern Conference. At 26-38 and 12th in the East, the Bulls are on the outside of the playoff race looking in, 3 games back of the Washington Wizards for the East’s final play-in seed.

The Sixers head into Chicago fresh off an overtime victory against the San Antonio Spurs. It’s already a difficult situation for Philly, having finished up a game less than 24 hours before Monday night’s tip-off against the Bulls. Add to it having played an extra period due to overtime, and the Sixers have their work cut out for them. Fortunately for Philly, they are fully healthy (though it’s possible some players sit the segababa out for rest). They’ll be looking to build on a current four-game win streak.

The Bulls enter Monday’s contest losers of their last three games and 4-6 in their last 10. Zach LaVine, who has not played since April 14th, and Nik Vucevic, who was out for the Bulls loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, are both questionable as of Monday morning. Troy Brown is out with an ankle injury — he’s missed Chicago’s last seven games.

These two teams have met twice already this season, with the Sixers prevailing in both. In the first, a 112-105 Philly win, Joel Embiid went off for one of the best offensive performances of his career, dropping 50 points on the Bulls while shooting 17 of 26 from the floor and sinking 15 of his 7 free throws. Tobias Harris followed up with 22 points on an efficient 9 of 16 FG. The second meeting went even worse for Chicago, with the Sixers cruising to a 127-105 blowout win. Making that win especially impressive was the fact that Philly was without both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Tonight, the Sixers go for the season sweep of Chicago. If they can pull out the win, they’ll hold a full game lead over the Nets as Brooklyn prepares to face off against the Milwaukee Bucks Tuesday evening. Following their matchup with the Bulls, the Sixers will head back to Texas to square off with the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.
