For the second consecutive game, the Sixers faced an opponent not exactly putting their best foot forward. While the Atlanta Hawks aren’t tanking like the Thunder, they were missing a handful of key contributors Wednesday night, and the Sixers wasted no time putting this game away. Philadelphia shot 5-of-8 from 3 and 64 percent from the field overall in the first quarter, widening the gap with a 12-0 run midway through the period and heading into the second quarter up by 20 points. The Sixers continued to pour gasoline on the fire, maintaining a 20-plus-point advantage that would grow to 30, and eventually as many as 46 points. The final was 127-83, and the Sixers’ 75-point combined margin of victory over the last two games is the largest in franchise history. The win also clinched a playoff berth for Philadelphia, and once again, we had more than enough potential Bell Ringer options from this blowout.
Seth Curry: 20 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover
Seth hit a 3 to get the scoring started in this game, and didn’t really feel like passing the baton thereafter, exploding for 13 points in the first quarter. In addition to knocking down those open spot-up treys (4-of-7 for the game), Curry nailed a couple mid-range jumpers, including a smooth stepback, and capped off a behind-the-back drive with a finger-roll down the lane. Seth being both efficient and aggressive like we saw tonight is the special sauce to make this starting unit fire on all cylinders.

Ben Simmons: 8 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 turnover
While Curry provided the offensive fireworks, Ben Simmons lit the fuse. He was everywhere on both ends of the court, being disruptive and getting out in transition, then spraying the ball into the shooting pocket of his teammates. Ben had four first-quarter assists, including three for 3-pointers, and was attacking downhill ferociously. The 6-foot-10 point guard converted a handful of acrobatic finishes at the rim, as he played with an overall verve that also saw him pull off some fancy handles and a no-look pass or two. A happy Ben Simmons is a dominant Ben Simmons, and his stat line would have been through the roof if not for three first-half fouls (and the starters taking a seat early in the second half).

Tobias Harris: 17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block, 0 turnovers
With the Hawks not playing the stoutest defense, the Sixers didn’t need the usual tough shot-making in the mid-range from Tobias. Harris, though, did his part with a number of finishes around the basket, including one off a great backdoor cut, plus an open 3 at the top of the key. I also came away impressed with Tobi’s work as a facilitator, racking up the six assists, including a nice lofted pass underneath to Simmons for a bucket and an on-the-money alley-oop to Dwight Howard.

Joel Embiid: 17 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks, 1 turnover
The Sixers didn’t need EMVPiid against Atlanta, but Joel made sure the Hawks wouldn’t have a chance of getting back into the game with 10 second-quarter points on 5-of-6 shooting. Four of those makes were high degree-of-difficulty jumpers that Embiid created out of nothing in isolation. We even got to see another picturesque Dirk one-legger. As I stated Monday, any added rest night for Joel is a good night.

Furkan Korkmaz: 12 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals, 1 turnover
Furkan went 4-of-6 from behind the arc, with two of those makes being difficult contested off-balanced shots. More and more, Korkmaz is getting comfortable with those Redick-like hoists while racing around in the half-court, forays which draw a lot of defensive attention. Furk was active defensively himself, picking up a couple steals, and saving one ball with a between-the-legs toss before hustling for a close-out. His continued journey from wondering if someone would even offer him a minimum deal to a two-way dynamo remains remarkable.

Tyrese Maxey: 11 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 0 turnovers
Maxey went 5-of-6 from the field, racking up most of his points in deep garbage time. The bucket that came with the game still potentially in doubt, though? A tuff two-handed baseline slam that gave Sixers nation the vapors.
