Tonight, the Sixers beat the Atlanta Hawks at home, 127-83.
This one was a laugher.
The Hawks had a hard road to hoe heading into this one, as Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, DeAndre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic all missed the game due to injury.
Credit to Doc Rivers’ squad, however: they didn’t mess around, and blew Atlanta off the court from the opening tip, as they won the first quarter by an even 20 points.
Ben Simmons was everywhere in the first half, and the star is seemingly just fine after returning Monday from his five-game absence due to illness.
Joel Embiid scored 17 points in 25 minutes and tallied 3 blocks for good measure.
Seth Curry was on fire in this one, totaling 20 points on 8/12 shooting from the field and 4/7 shooting from three in his 26 minutes.
Tobias Harris cooly added 17 points on 12 shots en route to a game-high +19 on the night.
Off the bench, George Hill had another strong two-way outing which included two surprisingly thunderous dunks in the halfcourt. Tyrese Maxey continued his great play of late with 11 points in 14 minutes.
Of note: this was the team’s first completely full strength outing in quite some time, and Mike Scott was completely out of the regular rotation. Scott only played 9 minutes in the fourth quarter with the game completely out of reach. We’ll see if this is a sign of things to come.
The Sixers pulled back to within a single game of the Eastern Conference-leading Brooklyn Nets.
Up next the Sixers will try to repeat this performance against the Hawks again on Friday, still at the Wells Fargo Center.
