The NBA may be heading into the All-Star break, but that doesn’t mean there’s an absence of competitive basketball for your viewing pleasures. Enter: Bball Paul and the Delaware Blue Coats.

The Blue Coats take on the Salt Lake City Stars Friday evening. The Blue Coats enter this contest on a high, fresh off a win over the Canton Charge that locked in a playoff berth for Delaware. Going into Friday evening’s matchup, the Blue Coats sit 5th in the G-League standings at 9-4 while the Stars find themselves tied for the second worst record at 4-10 and eliminated from playoff contention.

Leading the way for the Blue Coats on the way to a playoff berth is none other than Paul Reed, the Sixers’ 58th overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft. Reed is destroying the G-League, averaging 21.9 points on 57.9% from the floor in 31.5 minutes of action (13 games played). Bball Paul is adding 11.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.9 blocks per game to round out his traditionals. Perhaps most impressive, he’s shooting 44% from behind the arc on 3.8 attempts per game.

While the Stars have little to play for, the same cannot be said about the Blue Coats. The top of the G-League standings are tight, with seeds three through five all within 1.5 games of the tied-for-1st-place Erie Bayhawks and Raptors 905 (both 11-3). The Blue Coats have just two games remaining, but winning out could place them in a tie for the G-League’s top record with the Bayhawks and Raptors 905 if each of those two drop their final contest. (The Bayhawks play their final game Friday 3/5 at 3:00 pm EST).
