On this edition of the Coming in for a Landing podcast, Paul Hudrick breaks down the Sixers’ season-opening 117-97 win over the Pelicans Wednesday night.
- Joel Embiid looked lean and nimble on both ends of the floor. The All-Star big man looked like his MVP-caliber self with 22 points, six rebounds and five assists in just 25 minutes.
- Furkan Korkmaz got run as the team’s backup point guard and led a fine bench effort in the first half. In the fourth quarter, Korkmaz exploded, going 4 of 4 from three and helping seal the win.
- Tyrese Maxey was solid in his debut as the team’s starting point guard in place of Ben Simmons. He started off slow, but really made an impact in the second half. He had 20 points and five assists to just one turnover.
