As the Philadelphia 76ers (2-1) conclude their preseason slate against the Detroit Pistons (1-2) on Friday, they’ll remain without the services of Ben Simmons, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and confirmed to Liberty Ballers by a team official. Per Shelburne, Simmons cleared health and safety protocols and is eligible to rejoin the team, but is still in Philadelphia “as he reconditions.”
Ben Simmons will not play in tonight’s preseason finale in Detroit as he reconditions, sources told ESPN. He did not travel with the Sixers, but he has cleared health and safety protocols and is eligible to rejoin the team.

Earlier this week, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported that Simmons passed his physical Tuesday evening, which allowed him to “begin working out on the court in isolation with Sixers coaches” on Wednesday.
Simmons is not the lone Sixers who will miss Friday’s action versus Detroit. Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Danny Green, Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle and Grant Riller were all ruled out as well. Harris (knee), Thybulle (shoulder), Milton (ankle) and Riller (knee) are nursing ailments that range in severity, while Embiid and Green are resting.
The Sixers and Pistons tip off at 7 p.m. EST as Philadelphia vies for its third consecutive preseason victory.
