Report: Ben Simmons “day-to-day” with knee injury

Sigh of relief?

When Ben Simmons went limping back to the locker room yesterday afternoon, the city of Philadelphia naturally expected the worst. The combined forces of the Sixers’ track record with medical situations and our living in the cursed year 2020 seemed intent to strike one more major blow to our collective psyche. However, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the news may be better than we would have hoped.

A clean MRI dispels many of our worst fears, and day-to-day at least means there’s a chance Ben will return for the beginning of the playoffs, set to start on August 17. The Sixers have not been playing their best basketball over the course of the past week, but if Philadelphia is going to turn things around and justify all the optimism surrounding the team heading into the Orlando restart, Ben Simmons will need to be on the court and healthy.

For now, the Sixers may have dodged a bullet. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Ben and we’ll provide more updates when we know more specifics about the knee injury.
