NBA players went on strike on Wednesday to raise attention and promote action towards social justice initiatives. Since then, both the players and league have held a series of meetings, and this afternoon, the NBA and NBPA released a joint statement:

From a basketball fan’s perspective, the good news is that the NBA playoffs will resume tomorrow, Saturday, August 29. From a human perspective, the second itemized commitment especially is a terrific win for democracy. There are far too many instances of voters having to wait hours in line simply to cast their ballots. Utilizing arenas as polling locations will expedite the voting process for thousands upon thousands of people in these major cities, while voting in a larger venue will also allow for safer social-distancing conditions.
Peaceful protest works. Kudos to the players for stepping up and getting results. Looking forward to watching them back out on the court tomorrow.
