Good news, Sixers fans! With some, but not all, of Philadelphia’s seeding games in the Orlando bubble set to be nationally televised, everyone wondered if local outlets would be permitted to fill in the gaps. Would Sixers fans have the pleasure of hearing Marc, Alaa, and Serena on the call? Fortunately, it appears the answer is yes.
NBC Sports Philadelphia sent out the following press release this afternoon:
PHILADELPHIA- (July 15, 2020) – NBC Sports Philadelphia will air Philadelphia Flyers, Phillies and 76ers exhibition games, as the teams and leagues gear up for their return to play. Games will air on either NBC Sports Philadelphia or NBC Sports Philadelphia+, and all will be available to stream on the MyTeams app and on nbcsportsphiladelphia.com.
In addition to the games, fans can find exclusive articles, videos and feature stories on their favorite teams 24/7 on nbcsportsphiladelphia.com and the MyTeams app.
Phillies
Sunday, July 19 – 6:00 pm vs. Baltimore on NBCSP
Monday, July 20 – 6:00 pm at Yankees on NBCSP
76ers
Friday, July 24 – 3:30 pm vs. Memphis on NBCSP
Sunday, July 26 – 12:00 pm at Oklahoma City on NBCSP+
Tuesday, July 28 – 8:30 pm vs. Dallas on NBCSP+
Flyers
Tuesday, July 28 – 4:00 pm vs. Pittsburgh on NBCSP+
NBC Sports Philadelphia will announce the remaining Flyers, Phillies and 76ers schedules shortly.
Obviously, this is wonderful news. The backup plan was probably Matisse Thybulle pulling double duty and live vlogging while playing in the games. The NBC Sports Philadelphia team has experience with a remote setup, having called games from the studio for some Sixers preseason games in the past, so one would expect things to go smoothly on the local end.
Anyway, we are nine days away from Sixers basketball, and we won’t have to find a sketchy internet stream to see it. Let’s go!
