For this week’s Sixers Film Fix, I decided to go back to the early days of the Philadelphia 76ers’ young stars.
First up, a look back at Joel Embiid’s impressive NBA debut against the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 26, 2016. He finished the game with 20 points (albeit on 6-of-16 shooting), 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in just 22 minutes. Embiid didn’t wait to display his special talent and physicality with a nimble turning fadeaway jumper, followed by an emphatic block on Russell Westbrook within the first few minutes.
Next (again sticking to NBA debuts), here’s Ben Simmons’ first game in the league. On October 18, 2017, Simmons immediately showed that he had a lot to offer. He tallied 18 points (shooting 7-of-14 from the floor), 10 rebounds, 5 assists to just 1 turnover, 2 steals and 1 block in 34 minutes.

And now some more Simmons film to finish. I know I included Ben Simmons career passing highlights in part one of this series, so there will be a bit of overlap with a few passes, but there was still so many good plays to revisit. He made countless passes as a rookie that displayed his vision, craftiness, creativity, and impressive accuracy.
