All focus in the NBA world is on Thursdays’ trade deadline right now, but there are a couple of Philadelphia 76ers updates to take note of.
Josh Richardson is still listed as out for Thursday’s road game against the Milwaukee Bucks. However, the Sixers are positive about his return and it sounds like he could be back soon — potentially before the All-Star break (Philly have four games remaining). If Richardson doesn’t quite make it back beforehand, the timing of the break works out well to get him some extra rest.

The Sixers say his return is nearing, could return in upcoming games.
There’s no fixing the Sixers’ offensive issues without making some personnel moves, but Richardson returning to offer more ball handling will be a big help nonetheless.
In other news, the Sixers have also recalled Marial Shayok from the Delaware Blue Coats. Even though he’s a good shooter, it’s hard to see him getting any run outside of a small shot at garbage time minutes. He hasn’t made an appearance for the Sixers yet, and their schedule before the All-Star break isn’t easy. After facing the Bucks in Milwaukee, the Sixers will be back at home against the Grizzlies, Bulls and Clippers.
Shayok being called up could signal that a trade is coming. At least, that’s what the Sixers could use. If a deal is in the works, multiple players would likely be involved and the team is going to need guys available. Shayok would fit the bill here as someone who could step in briefly at the end of a depleted bench unit.
We’ll soon find out if this is the case or not. With one big trade already complete, which took a couple of potential Sixers targets (Robert Covington and Malik Beasley) off the board, there’s just under 24 hours left for them to make something happen.
