Boban Marjanovic to sign with Dallas Mavericks

NBA: Playoffs-Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Boban Marjanovic has reached an agreement to join the Dallas Mavericks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Sources: Free agent Boban Marjanovic has agreed to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Charania went on to add that Boban’s deal is a two-year contract worth $7 million.

From a non X’s and O’s perspective, Boban not returning to Philly is disappointing as he’s got a charming personality and he’s a very close friend of Tobias Harris. And he’s typically pretty effective soaking up backup center minutes in the regular season. But the reality is that Boban significantly loses effectiveness in the playoffs due to his lack of mobility. Furthermore, the Sixers brought in free agents Al Horford and Kyle O’Quinn already, both of whom are perfectly adequate and then some as backups to Joel Embiid, and signed Norvel Pelle, another big, to a two-way contract. Bringing Boban back, even on a minimum, would be overkill.

Regardless, Boban will be missed. We’ll always love you, Bobi!
