The NBA gives out all kinds of awards. MVP, Most Improved, Coach of the Year — these are the ones we have the most fun discussing. But players are also nominated for awards that are concerned with off-the-court activity. One of those off-the-court awards is the NBA Cares Community Assist of the Year Award — for which 10 NBA Players are nominated for “global community efforts in education, health, social justice and more”.

One of those 10 nominees for the 2018-2019 season is the Philadelphia 76ers’ own Tobias Harris. Tobias hosted a panel of influential women who spoke about their professional achievements in an effort to encourage female youth to break barriers:

Tobias has done nothing but demonstrate that he is a class act — it is good to seem him being recognized for as much. And if you agree, you can help him receive this well-deserved award! From the NBA:

NEW YORK, April 24, 2019 – Fan voting for the 2018-19 Seasonlong NBA Cares Community Assist Award presented by Kaiser Permanente will begin today on social media at 12 p.m. ET and conclude on Sunday, May 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET, the NBA announced today. Chosen by fans and an NBA executive panel, the seasonlong winner will be announced at the 2019 NBA Awards presented by Kia on Monday, June 24, on TNT live from historic Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

The seasonlong award honors a player’s strong commitment to positively impact his community through sustained efforts over the course of the season. The winning player will receive the award during the 2019 NBA Awards presented by Kia on TNT, and $25,000 to their charity of choice, a donation from the NBA and Kaiser Permanente.

Fans can vote for their chosen seasonlong award nominee via Jebbit, where they can view and select videos highlighting each player’s impact, or on Twitter, by using #NBACommunityAssist and a player’s handle or #PlayerFirstNameLastName (e.g., #DavidRobinson). Retweets are also counted and votes cast on the first and last day (April 24 and May 5) will count twice towards a player’s total.

Harris will be going up against the following players:

  • Jarrett Allen (Brooklyn Nets)
  • Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards)
  • Mike Conley (Memphis Grizzlies)
  • LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers)
  • Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers)
  • Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks)
  • Donovan Mitchell (Utah Jazz)
  • Dwight Powell (Dallas Mavericks)
  • Pascal Siakam (Toronto Raptors)

Whether Tobias is awarded the Community Assist of the Year or not, it’s always a plus to be able to root for guys like Harris. Well done, sir.
