Broad Street ง(◣_◢́)ง Bullies!

Kudos to the PHILA 76ers for finally figuring it out! I think it happened during half time of last night's game. Maybe it was something that went ((click? Or maybe it was Brett Brown throwing a few "F" bombs around the locker room; but something happened to make this team realize what they have to do in order to make a deep run in the playoffs this year.

This team has to play BULLY BALL in order for them to win!

No more defensive switches, no more dribble handoffs, no more hanging out at the 3 point line relying on 3 point shooting to be the difference. For this team to win, they all have to be uber aggressive. Joel needs to get in the paint and punch (i.e. elbow) someone in the mouth! Ben needs to try to dunk on anyone who dares to stand in front of him. Tobias needs to take out his switch blade and make cuts to the paint (going towards the basket ) as often as he can. Mike Scott needs to be the enforcer, who will dive into the stands, steal a sip of a fan's Rum and Coke, then hit a dagger 3 point field goal to cut the heart out of the other team. Jimmy Butler needs to be the "adult" who takes matters into his own hands when all else fails.

The sport of Hockey has evolved (from the 1970's) where the "Broad Street Bully" concept doesn't translate into their modern game any longer; but in basketball, BULLY BALL is a very viable way to get things accomplished. Since they traded Landry Shamet to the Clippers, JJ Reddick is really the only (consistent) 3 point shooter they have. Last year they had the likes of Marco Belinelli and Ersan İlyasova, so they could rely more on 3 point shooting to get them over the hump, and, come to think of it, that only got them to the semi finals. This year, we have Mike Scott, but his strength is providing toughness (in addition to his 3 point shooting). The toughness, in my opinion, is what needs to be accentuated.

Don't get me wrong, they still need floor spacing. They have Mike Scott and Tobias Harris who, (in addition to JJ), can pose a threat from beyond the arc; but for this team to make a deep run, they're going to have to ruff some people up! It's really common sense. Size wise, this team is physically bigger than most teams they'll be matched up against. Joel is 7' 2". Boban is 7'3". Big Ben is 6'11". Butler and Harris are both 6' 8" . I love TJ McConnell, but Brett needs to limit his minutes, (in the playoffs), and allow Jimmy and / or Tobias to fill most of the back up point guard minutes.

My message to the 76ers: NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! DON'T BE AFRAID TO BEAT SOMEONE UP & TAKE THEIR LUNCH MONEY! .....It may be the only way you're going to eat this year!
