Let’s all appreciate the two superstar plays in the Sixers’ win over the Celtics

NBA: Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Hello and welcome to the “Joel Embiid & Jimmy Butler are superstars and they are ours” appreciation post.

There won’t be much to this post, because what else is there to say? The two players made two huge plays in the closing minute of last night’s victory over the Boston Celtics, and we need to thoroughly appreciate them.

Jojo’s Block

I mean, just a freakish play by someone who is over 7’ tall. It wasn’t as if Joel got switched onto Kyrie Irving. No, Embiid recognized the moment, that it was quite possibly the biggest play of the game, and he welcomed the opportunity to stop Irving.

Irving elected to utilize his speed to blow past Embiid. But the thing about being 7’2” is that you end up with stilts for legs, and covering 8 feet of floor is a mere foot step. Kyrie was ready for Embiid’s spatial recovery so Irving switched hands, and was then certain he had a bucket. EMBIID LITERALLY TRIPPED, switched blocking hands, and STILL rejected that garbage.

A truly special play.

Jimmy’s Bucket

Game time.
