Former Sixer and casualty of the Process Spencer Hawes has signed a G-League contract according to Adam Johnson of 2ways10days:

NBA veteran Spencer Hawes has signed a G League contract and is available to be claimed off waivers league source tells @2Ways10Days - @AdamJ_NBAGL

This is just too perfect. Last week marked the five-year anniversary of a Sam Hinkie-crafted deal that sent Big Spence to Cleveland in exchange Earl Clark, Henry Sims and two second-round picks. It was not the first domino to fall in the tear down, but it was further indication that the Sixers of old were dead and gone. Fast forward to today, and Hawes is looking to latch onto a team as they make their run down the final stretch of the 2018-2019 schedule. And who is currently in desperate need of center depth? Your Philadelphia 76ers.

I doubt Spencer, who hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2016-2017 season, has much left in the tank. But if I’m wrong, and he can pick up where he left off — and I think I’m serious about this — Hawes may actually be a feasible option for a short stint as a center off the bench as Joel Embiid and Boban Marjanovic return from injury. It would be... poetic.
