Gary Washburn is an NBA writer for the Boston Globe, and yesterday evening he tweeted out that he’s hearing “there’s a good chance” that one of the two nationally televised (on TNT) NBA opening night games could be the Sixers vs. the Celtics (with the other being the Thunder vs. the Warriors.).
Hearing there's a good chance TNT season-opening slate will be #Sixers-#Celtics and #Thunder-#Warriors on Oct. 16

Could we ask for a better matchup? The answer is no. There’s not a single Sixers opponent that excites me more for the start of the season than the Celtics. The storylines:
- Sixers Eastern Conference Semis revenge
- Brett vs. Brad
- Biid vs. the Bun (Aron Baynes)
- Ben Simmons first 3-pointer???
- Washington Markelle Fultz debuts against the team that passed him over in the 2017 NBA draft???
- Super Bowl winning fanbase vs. Super Bowl losing fanbase
The possibilities are endless. Hopefully, Gary Washburn is hearing this opening night chatter from a credible source. It’s all I want, it’s all I need.
75 days until October 16th, 2018.
