A famous Lincoln automobile spokesman once said, “time is a flat circle”. A few days shy of one year after 2017 first-round pick Markelle Fultz injured his ankle in summer league, 2018 first-round pick Landry Shamet limped his way to the locker room after spraining his right ankle against the Celtics. Shamet has now been officially ruled out for the remainder of summer league and will be re-evaluated in three weeks. Here’s the official statement from the team:

By now, we know how these injury timelines work with the Sixers. Weeks become months. The player completely forgets a fundamental basketball skill. The general manager gets forced out amidst a bizarre social media scandal. Finally, the player rebuilds his game from scratch to rise again like a phoenix and take the league by storm. It’s the circle of life.
In all seriousness, rest up, Landry Shamet. Hope to see you happy and healthy at training camp in the fall.
