The 2018 NBA Draft is now only a month away (June 21st). While the Sixers won’t be picking as high as we’ve become accustomed to, they do have a lottery selection at #10 via the LA Lakers. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a big board?
With that said, today marks the first installment of the 2018 Liberty Ballers community big board!
How it works
For anyone who may be unfamiliar, the community big board will be selected by YOU, the reader. The selection process will start at #1 and go to #30. Via a poll, the readers will vote on each ranking. A vote will be placed just about everyday from now until the draft, until we’ve completed a 30 player big board.
Starting with #1
According to a lot of draft experts out there on the interwebs, Luka Doncic is ahead of the pack in terms of talent and potential. Given his experience in European ball, Doncic figures to be capable of making an impact immediately, while possessing great potential to develop into an elite level playmaker.
Before the 2017-2018 NCAA season, DeAndre Ayton was viewed as someone who could push for the #1 spot in draft rankings. However, he’s become a polarizing figure with many doubting his defensive abilities and others salivating over his offensive potential. This has resulted in him being ranked anywhere from #1 to #6 on different boards.
Trae Young is a real boom-or-bust candidate, with his biggest supporters envisioning a Steph Curry-esque player as a possible outcome. If we could look into the future and know that were the case, it’s hard to pass on him at #1. Alas, we can’t look into the future and Young, at this point, doesn’t seem to have the same completeness to his game that Steph has.
Jaren Jackson Jr., Marvin Bagley and Michael Porter Jr. are all guys that have their own advocates as well. But enough of the introductions. You know these players at this point, right? Let’s get to the vote.
