Joel Embiid is officially OUT for Game 1

Brett Brown joined the Dan Patrick show today and confirmed that Joel Embiid is officially out for Game 1 of the Sixers playoff series against the Miami Heat. (Why the Dan Patrick Show?)

Joel Embiid suffered an orbital fracture against the New York Knicks on March 28th after colliding with Markelle Fultz during a botched dribble handoff.

I think everyone expected Embiid to be out and he’s hinted as much, but part of me deep down was like, “Nah, he’s playing.”

The good news is that the Sixers have looked really good even without their star center. But the playoffs are a different animal.

Here’s to hoping Jo is back for Game 2.
