Per Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Joel Embiid will not be traveling with the Sixers on their upcoming two-game road trip when the Sixers take on the Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets - the Hornets game being the 2,000th meeting between the two in the last month.
Embiid suffered a facial contusion after colliding with Markelle Fultz on a fumbled dribble hand-off Wednesday night against the Knicks.
With the Sixers just 0.5 game back of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the standings, the rest of the Sixers roster will need to bring their “A” game if they want to keep climbing toward that 3 seed without Embiid.
This isn’t the end of the world. It’s possible that the Sixers are just being precautious as well as getting Joel some much needed rest.
