Long overdue.
I’m a millennial (begrudgingly), so I didn’t have the pleasure of watching Mo Cheeks as a player. I only knew Mo Cheeks as the coach in the late 2000’s. But his impact was undeniable as a ferocious defender and someone who played the game “the right way.”
His career numbers are 12,195 points, 3088 rebounds, 7392 assists and 2310 steals (2.1 spg career average!). He was drafted by the Sixers in 1978 in the 2nd round, 36th overall. He played as a Sixer for 11 of his 16 professional seasons, making 4 All-Star games and winning a championship with the ‘82-’83 team.
Philadelphia gets a W today. What else is new?
