If you told me back in August that the 76ers would be 10 games over .500 and gunning for a home playoff series, I would have called you crazy. Yet, here we are, with the 76ers blowing out a tanking-but-not-tanking-but-actually-tanking team and their starters getting a quarter and a half of rest. At its peak, the lead swelled up to over 30! Brett Brown was able to clear out the bench to finish out the first game of the back to back.
As of this writing, Philadelphia sits at 40-30 in the 6th seed* with the possibility to climb into the 5th* slot depending on the results of the Wizards’ contest. While the Pacers lost, the Cavaliers won. The 76ers fly down to Orlando to take on the Magic tomorrow night as they try to continue capitalizing on their soft end of season schedule. Will Joel Embiid be sitting out tomorrow? Not if he has anything to say about it.
(*EDIT: The 76ers have 1 less loss than the Pacers so based on that they would be 5th with the possibility of ending up in the 4th slot. However, Indiana owns the tie-breaker if they end the season with similar records. Philly playing less games always trips me up)
Embiid got asked about resting down the stretch during his post-game availability: "Well, I'm playing in every game. We didn't come this far to rest me."
