Tonight, LeBron James will face his future team, the Phila...
I mean: The Sixers are in Cleveland tonight to face off against the Cavaliers, as the Sixers look to halt a two game skid after dropping back-to-back games against the Washington Wizards and the Miami Heat. The Cavs, who sit just 3.5 games ahead of the Sixers in the Eastern Conference standings, share the same post-All-Star-break record as the Sixers at 2-2.
This will be the third time the Sixers and Cavs go head-to-head this season, with the Sixers looking for win #1 in the season series. In their first meeting in late November, the Sixers hosted as the Cavs ran away with a 113-91 win, with the Sixers shooting just 37.5% as a team. Their second match up came just two weeks later, when the Sixers traveled to Cleveland and lost a much tighter game, 105-98. While the Sixers stepped up their performance compared to the first game, they had no answer for LeBron James as he notched a triple-double with 30 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists.
Depending on how you feel about the Sixers maybe, possibly attempting to lure James to Philly in this summer’s free agency period, this game could carry more significance on top of an already important game (important pertaining to the standings). Word on the street is that LeBron has or hasn’t visited Philadelphia-suburban school Malvern Prep, and/or/but that he maybe, or maybe didn’t, send representatives to view the school as a potential destination for his son to attend next fall. To further build on what is starting to become a bit of a desperate plea, a Philadelphia-based business put up billboards IN CLEVELAND to further entice LeBron to come to Philly. Any way you slice the rumors, the most effective way to tempt LeBron is likely for the Sixers’ two young studs Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to put on a clinic in Cleveland tonight.
Vegas likes the Cavs at -3.5 tonight, with the over/under set at 223.
