Sixers vs Heat: Start Time and Game Preview

Another primetime game for the Sixers tonight, this time against the All Star (really?) Goran Dragic led Miami Heat.

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at Brooklyn Nets Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

The end of January was none too kind to the Philadelphia 76ers. Dropping 3 straight games, most recently to the Brooklyn Jahlil Okafor’s Nets. A game that the Sixers are sure to try and forget as soon as possible, nothing was going right on the defensive side of the ball and several key players didn’t come up clutch down the stretch.

Ben Simmons was once again proved he was snubbed from the all star team, scoring 24 points and dishing out 7 assists. Another big storyline of this game was the return of sharpshooter JJ Redick to the lineup after missing several weeks with a leg injury. Reduce jumped right back into the swing of things and scored 20 points, including 3 made three pointers, something the Sixers really missed while he was injured.

Looking ahead to the Miami Heat, the Sixers will have their hands full against a team that is one of the most surprising so far this season, settling into the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference right now with a record of 29-22. Point guard Goran Dragic was named as an injury replacement for the All Star game, surprisingly ahead of everyones favorite Australian point forward Ben Simmons. Alongside center Hassan Whiteside, Miami has one of the better guard-center combos in the league, something both Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid need to be aware of.

Look for Simmons to make everyone realize it was a mistake taking Dragic over him for the All Star game from the very beginning of this game, as well as Joel Embiid beating up Whiteside in the paint once again. This game is the perfect chance for the Sixers to get back on track against a team they could eventually see in the playoffs. In front of a national audience the Sixers have a chance to prove they belong in the playoffs, it should be a fun one.
