You’ve asked. (And asked, and asked, and asked.) And we’ve finally listened. Grandma Helen’s Attic is moving to the front page (sort of).
If you are not familiar with the Attic, allow me to introduce you to the series. Liberty Ballers community member Grandma Helen puts together a fanpost each week (or about each week) containing interesting links from around the web. Sometimes the links are Sixers related, sometimes the links are NBA related, sometimes the links are whatever related.
On second thought, allow grandma Helen themself to introduce you. From the body of each Attic post:
Grandma Helen’s Attic is a collection of basketball related links, videos, article excerpts, commentary, interesting tweets, breaking news and the occasional off topic post of funny or topical material (I’ll do my best to stay away from politics).
As long as each edition of this ongoing series gets enough RECS (usually 3) to moved to the RECOMMENDED List, I will continue to produce new editions. The purpose of this is not only to gauge interest, but to increase the duration of easy access availability of each edition from the LB website.
You can REC this Fanpost by logging onto Liberty Ballers and clicking on the green tab just below this Attic Edition header. The tab says REC.
Warning: Grandma Helen’s Attic is highly addictive.
The way Grandma Helen formats the Attic is a bit different from what you might expect in your typical “links” post. Grandma Helen likes to keep the list running, so rather than continually update the body of each edition of the post, Grandma Helen simply adds addendums in the form of comments, containing the links you need to check out.
Now, a little background to this development. I first reached out to Grandma Helen last season about getting the Attic on the front page. The problem was that Grandma Helen wanted to reserve the ability to continually update the Attic rather than send out a single post and not touch it for a week — which is how it should be, the Attic is perfect as is. So I put the idea on the back burner. This season though, we’ve worked out a system. The Attic will remain a fanpost so Grandma Helen can retain full creative and systematic control. However, I’ll be posting updates on the front page with each new edition of the Attic, containing a link to the fanpost.
Furthermore, if you’ve ever noticed the toolbar on the top of Liberty Ballers, you may have also noticed the “Sections” link. We’re in the process of revamping the Sections, as the current Sections don’t even link to anything! They’ve not been updated since before my time here at LB. Once we get the Sections sorted out, there will be a section dedicated exclusively to the Attic, which will contain each new edition. Until then, again, I’ll be posting a link to the Attic on the front page as each new edition is published.
