With the Sixers season opener just a few hours away, I messaged our Liberty Ballers Slack chat asking for everyone’s best takes for the season. Some were simmering hot, some were grounded in reality. You’re allowed to hold us responsible for all takes when they’re proven correct, and zero of them when they’re wrong. The following is a collection of those takes.
Andrew Patton: “Dario makes All Star team”
Jackson Frank: “Shake Milton will be a rotation piece by the All-Star break!!!!”
Caleb Turrentine: “The Sixers make it to the Finals without having to beat the Celtics”
Brian Murphy: “Landry Shamet makes an All Rookie Team”
Adio Royster: “A lot of the easy ones were taken, so I’ll go WAY off the reservation: Markelle Fultz STARTS the season with the Sixers ... but doesn’t FINISH with the Sixers. If I’m using the Time Stone and looking at the 14,000,605 possible outcomes, there’s definitely one where Fultz averages 16/7/7 until the trade deadline, and the Sixers are like ‘Ok. This is who he definitely is. Portland. Wanna swap with CJ McCollum?’.”
Justin Carter: “Sixers fans will universally be tired of Wilson Chandler by midseason”
Greg Melo: “JJ Redick 6MOY”
Tom West: “Ben Simmons makes an all-defensive team.”
Steve Lipman: “A non embiid Sixer wins DPOY”
Kevin F. Love: “Robert Covington finally cuts his hair.”
The following isn’t from our Slack, and Marc Whittington unfortunately no longer contributes to Liberty Ballers, but I found it to be a very interesting thought (the tweet re: Zhaire Smith):
3. Zhaire Smith will be the most promising guard prospect on the Sixers this year, once he gets on the floor in 2019.
