Coming off the nerve-wracking experience of watching Markelle Fultz getting carried off the court in the Las Vegas Summer League last night, the Sixers have positive news about Fultz injury. Here’s the team’s press release:
Sixers guard Markelle Fultz was evaluated following an injury to his left ankle, which was suffered in the third quarter of a Summer League game against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, July 8 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Fultz underwent X-rays, which were negative, and the injury was determined to be a lateral ankle sprain. He will miss the remainder of Summer League and is expected to return to normal basketball activities in 1-2 weeks.
Take a deep breath. When dealing with the never-ending onslaught of injuries that seem to plague this franchise and its players, this is a decent silver lining. Futz didn’t suffer a high ankle sprain, an injury that could’ve required significant more recovery time.
While it’s unfortunate that Fultz’s Summer League stint is up, this seems like just a minor road bump on the way to Opening Night. Until then, please leave all of the players in a padded room.
