The No. 2 spot on the Community Big Board was a little bit tighter than No. 1, but not by too much. UCLA’s Lonzo Ball was victorious with 47 percent (1186 votes), beating out Kansas’s Josh Jackson by 23 percent.
In a somewhat surprising development, Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox took home third place with 13 percent of the vote, more than double what Duke’s Jayson Tatum and Florida State’s Jonathan Isaac received combined. It seems clear that we’re headed for a Fox-Jackson face-off for the No. 3 spot on the big board.
Jackson would still be my choice, and I don’t think it’s particularly close. Outside of Fultz he may be the most well rounded player in this draft class. Questions about his jump shot are certainly valid, but De’Aaron Fox has the same issues. He shot just 24.6 percent from three this year, although he did shoot 73.9 percent from the line, a sign that not all hope may be lost.
The winner of the third spot on the big board may be an indication of who the public thinks has a better chance of becoming an average shooter at the NBA. Feel free to banter about that below.
To even out the bad shooters in this poll we’ll add Arizona big man Lauri Markkanen, considered by many to have the sweet stroke in the class. The poll will end at midnight.
