Although the community’s choice can sometimes differ from consensus, the top selection in this year’s draft seems like it was an easy choice. Markelle Fultz ran away with 89 percent of the vote, taking the No. 1 spot on the LB Community Big Board in a landslide victory.
Here’s where things actually start to get interesting. Lonzo Ball is probably the national favorite at the No. 2 spot, but he has his critics in this community, both for his game and some of the baggage that comes attached. After Fultz, there’s an argument to be made for any number of players, because each of the guys after him have potentially career-altering flaws.
Can you live with Josh Jackson’s hitch in his jumper? Do you believe Jonathan Isaac can be an impact player if his handle never improves? Is Jayson Tatum going to offer much more than shotmaking? All questions that you’ll have to grapple with at pick No. 2.
We’re also adding Dennis Smith Jr. to this poll, thanks to popular demand in the comment section. He could be the best marriage of fit and upside in the draft, but the lead guard from N.C. State comes with his own concerns, namely defense and a lack of experience playing off-ball.
Let’s talk this one out. Make your selection for the No. 2 spot, and let us know in the comments why you feel good (or don’t!) about it.
