2017 Liberty Ballers Community Big Board No. 12: Sorry for the wait

The big board is back, but Anunoby is no longer there.

NCAA Basketball: Rutgers at Indiana Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Lost in the hubbub of the Markelle Fultz trade news was OG Anunoby finding a home on the Liberty Ballers Community Big Board.

In our tightest race to date, the former Indiana swingman downed Arizona’s Lauri Markkanen by just eight votes, and captured 33 percent of the total vote. Duke’s Luke Kennard was a distant third with just 10 percent of the vote.

Anunoby was looked at as a potential top-10 pick coming into the season, but a torn ACL in January caused him to fall down most draft boards. The talent is undeniably there -- he has the potential to be a Tony Allen-like stopper -- but questions about his jump shot have limited his outlook. He shot just 31 percent from three and 56.3 percent from the line in his shortened sophomore season.

The 12th spot on our big board seems like the right place for Markkanen to go. Out of all the players available in our poll, his upside is undoubtedly the highest.

Kyle Neubeck (who ranked Markkanen 12th on his personal board) had this to say about him in the Liberty Ballers final big board:

Markkanen has an elite skill at his height, which is enough to keep him in the mid-lotto, but it would be hard to build an archetype I have more disdain for. He’s seven feet tall and plays like a guard, and not in a good way. Theoretically he would be the floor-spacing four Colangelo wants, but I don’t want any big man who isn’t a defender or a rebounder, and the only reason he’s even this high is because I think the middle of this draft is a wasteland.

Now that Fultz is going to be a Sixer, it doesn’t look like we’ll have to worry about trading down anymore. Markelle Fultz is going to be a member of the Sixers -- isn’t that fun to say?

Anyway, vote for your favorite player below. We’ll add Oklahoma State point guard Jawun Evans and UCLA power forward T.J. Leaf to the mix.
