PICK SWAPALYPSE NOW!
All the dreaming, hoping, wishing and Twitter jokes about Vlade Divac and Vivek Ranadive have lead to this. The Kings jumped all the way from eighth in the lottery to FIRST OR SECOND OR THIRD, giving the Sixers their own pick and receiving the FIFTH OR SIXTH pick in return. STAUSKAS? STAUSKAS? STAUSKAS?
This is just another moment where fans of Sam Hinkie’s tenure as Sixers general manager can feel vindicated. Despite him being ousted over a year ago, his infamous trade with the clueless kings in July of 2015 led to this unbelievable opportunity. Don’t forget that this gift keeps on giving. The Sixers own the Kings unprotected pick in 2019 too. Let’s run this thing back in two years before a big Sixers Eastern Conference playoff game, shall we?
UPDATE: The Sixers, via the pick swaps, ended up with the third overall pick. Come talk about it with us here if you would like. The final order:
1. Boston Celtics
2. Los Angeles Lakers
3. Philadelphia 76ers
4. Phoenix Suns
5. Sacramento Kings
6. Orlando Magic
7. Minnesota Timberwolves
8. New York Knicks
9. Dallas Mavericks
10. Sacramento Kings
11. Charlotte Hornets
12. Detroit Pistons
13. Denver Nuggets
14. Miami Heat
All in all, a decent result and one that will leave us with plenty to debate between now and late June. We’ll talk more about what this means for the Sixers tomorrow morning.
