Coming off Florida State’s loss to Xavier in the Round of 32 last Saturday, Seminoles forward Jonathan Isaac has declared for this summer’s NBA draft, per Scout.com’s Evan Daniels. The freshman averaged 12.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 34.8 percent from three and 78.0 percent from the free throw line this season.
Isaac is a player who should certainly be on the radar of the Sixers and their fans. Standing 6’11” with a wingspan over 7’1”, Isaac has the ideal combination of size, length and athleticism to potentially be a monster defensive player at the next level. He could be in play for the Sixers if they don’t jump into the top three of the lottery, as they’re currently slated to pick fifth, or if the Lakers’ top-three protected pick conveys this year.
Isaac is currently the eighth-ranked player on Draft Express’ Big Board and came in fifth on the Liberty Ballers Big Board 2.0 from the beginning of this month. I personally had Isaac as the third-ranked player on my board, feeling that his massive defensive potential and outside shooting stroke could be a killer combination at either forward spot next to Robert Covington and Ben Simmons.
I’ll leave you with this tantalizing image of the Sixers’ possible future:
If you put Jonathan Isaac next to Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons I'm not sure opposing teams would ever score again
