NBA Trade Rumors: Sixers targeted trade for Celtics guard Avery Bradley, ‘no traction’

The Sixers looked into acquiring Celtics guard Avery Bradley.

The Sixers remain engaged in talks right up until the NBA trade deadline. According to a report from The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers are in the market for “defensive-minded guards” and inquired about Celtics guard Avery Bradley.

Woj says the Sixers have made no traction:

This seems like a fairly transparent attempt to get a gold star for trying, and since I usually make fun of Danny Ainge for doing this — they “almost had” about 15 star players! — it only seems fair to have a chuckle about this leak.

If the Sixers were able to get a deal done for Bradley, he’d fit like a glove alongside Ben Simmons. He’s a good shooter (40.9 from three this season, 36.7 career), one of the league’s peskiest guard defenders, and on a great contract through next season. His ability to play off-ball suits him for a role alongside the Sixers’ future point-forward.

The Sixers would have to pay Bradley after next season, but he’s only owed just under $9 million in 2017-18, which would allow the Sixers to upgrade significantly without having to commit long-term dollars yet.

I wouldn’t expect this one to happen, but hey:

The Sixers have trades to make. Who's likely to be out the door?
