Joel Embiid May not Play Until Christmas

Santa JoJo will be seemingly well rested by Christmas morning.

After the Sixers went to 3OTs with the Thunder and Joel Embiid played a career high 48 minutes (with a 34/8/6/2 line), the default line on twitter was that we probably wouldn’t see him until Christmas. Even if half of us were joking, we knew deep down we weren’t.

According to a holiday WojBomb - one that plays Silver Bells when it goes off - we were right before about Christmas:

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, sidelined with a sore back, could miss two more games this week but is expected to return for the Christmas Day meeting with New York, league sources told ESPN.

Despite the likelihood of resting his back for the remainder of the week, there's optimism that Embiid will be fit to face the Knicks on Monday, league sources said.

National TV. A holiday. Legit lingering back tightness as it is. Near 50 minutes in one game. It’s almost as if the Sixers organization asked for a perfect excuse to rest JoJo before the Christmas game and it all fell into their lap. Ho, ho, ho.
