On the Sixers’ medical update sent out today, the headline grabber is that Joel Embiid will miss tomorrow’s game with a combo of back tightness and load management. But further down on the report you’ll see our old friend Out Indefinitely, and this time, he’s come for Furkan Korkmaz.

The lisfranc injury is not good. It struck Le’Veon Bell a couple of years ago and while he’s fine now, recovery can take a long, long time. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the lisfranc injury “is a severe injury that may take many months to heal and may require surgery to treat.” They don’t yet know the severity of the injury, but the AAOS describes treatments as ranging from 6 weeks in a boot to surgery requiring screws and plates. I don’t believe in curses, but the curse of the Sixers rookie is very, very real.
