“Here we go again on our own, going down the only road we’ve ever known...”
I don’t believe in fate or karma, but sometimes a situation comes and smacks you on the head so many times that you have to wonder what you did to deserve it. Thanks for the smack on the head, Markelle Fultz, you’re in good company.
Fultz’s agent told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that the reports of his client’s shoulder injury have not been exaggerated.
“Markelle had a shoulder injury and fluid drained out of the back of his shoulder. He literally cannot raise up his arms to shoot the basketball. He decided to try and fight through the pain to help the team. He has a great attitude. We are committed to finding a solution to get Markelle back to 100 percent.”
The report also stated that Fultz is planning to see a shoulder specialist soon, but Woj’s league sources say no decision has been made on whether or not Fultz will miss time. Later, Woj quoted agent Raymond Brothers on the obvious: “[Fultz] has been unable to shoot the ball.”
It’s worth noting that the Sixers (Brett Brown specifically) were the first to mention shoulder soreness, but no specific injury is mentioned here, and we have seen Fultz raise his shoulder to shoot jumpers, just not ones from far away.
I’ll update the post here when we hear more from either Fultz or the Sixers.
