Joel Embiid will Show his Acting Chops in Mockumentary Webseries

Verizon Media’s go90 series “The 5th Quarter” features Embiid in episode 1 of season 3.

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at Detroit Pistons Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Joel Embiid is a star. We all know this. He’s got the game, the attitude, and the meme-ibilty to be more than just an athlete in 2017. But off the court, does he have acting ability? We’ve seen his Jolly Rancher commercial, sure, but he didn’t have any lines. He might never host SNL - reminder: start a petition for Joel Embiid to host SNL - but he’ll flex his acting chops in the newest episodes of Verizon Media’s go90’s “The 5th Quarter.”

“The 5th Quarter” is a mockumentary series produced by OBB Pictures, telling the “greatest untold and untrue stories in sports history.” Season one features appearances from Blake Griffin (of course), Mark Cuban, Kenny Mayne, and more. Joel Embiid will appear in the first episode of season 3, arriving in January. The episode, appropriately entitled “The Processor” is described as such:

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel “The Process” Embiid aspires to finish his degree at Kansas, so he takes an internship at a “Processor” during the 2017 NBA off-season. When his boss turns out to be nothing more than a scam artist running a shell company, Joel takes matters into his own, gigantic hands.

You can see the trailer for seasons 2 and 3 below, featuring Embiid, a returning Griffin, LaVar and Lonzo Ball, Dr. J, Jim Ross, and others.
