Joel Embiid Snubbed from All-Star Game

The Embiid Vengeance Tour begins now.

After missing out on the chance to be an All-Star starter, the 76ers community was buzzing as to whether Joel Embiid would sneak onto the team as an Eastern Conference reserve. Unfortunately for the Philadelphia faithful, Embiid was not selected for next month’s All-Star Game in New Orleans.

These seven players will be joining Kyrie Irving, DeMar DeRozan, Jimmy Butler, LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Eastern Conference roster:

It seemed that Embiid’s candidacy came down to that of him against Paul Millsap of the Atlanta Hawks. Millsap, while an excellent and productive player in his own right, is a bit vanilla of an All-Star pick from a stereotypically vanilla Atlanta team, a jarring selection in contrast with Embiid’s outlandish personality and ability to dominate the game on a per-minute basis. Additionally, one could make the argument that Embiid was more deserving than Cleveland’s Kevin Love, based on Embiid’s defensive prowess and Love’s lack thereof.

Predictably, Sixers Twitter was not having any of this:

Rights to Ricky Sanchez podcaster Spike Eskin wants to have an anti-Millsap, pro-Embiid party at Xfinity Live, home to last year’s infamous draft lottery party:

The Process himself chimed in as well:

Health withstanding, I’m sure Embiid can pencil in that date for Valentine’s Day 2018.
