Ben Simmons Fractured His Right Foot

Good things just don’t happen to the Sixers.

NBA: Summer League-Philadelphia 76ers vs Golden State Warriors Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Here comes some devastating news on the heels of this afternoon’s announcement that Ben Simmons rolled his ankle in the 76ers’ training camp practice today. Simmons fractured a bone in his right foot, per an official report from the Sixers themselves:

After receiving an X-ray and MRI of the foot and ankle, the images were reviewed by Sixers Head Physician Dr. Christopher Dodson and Sixers Chief Medical Officer and Co-Chief of Sports Medicine Orthopedics at New York's Mount Sinai Medical Center Dr. Jonathan Glashow.

It was determined that Simmons suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot.

Understandably, the reaction from Twitter was dire:

Brett Brown had listed Tuesday night’s starting lineup for the preseason opener as Jerryd Bayless, Gerald Henderson, Robert Covington, Simmons, and Joel Embiid in an interview with 97.5 The Fanatic today. Expect that to change as well.

Stay tuned for more updates about the status of Simmons’ injury as they become available.
