Sixers-Jazz Game Thread: Ben Simmons Returns to the Court

Simmons back!

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

With fewer roster spots up for grabs, the Sixers Summer League team is not as compelling a watch for diehards this summer. Factoring in the presence of their top pick, Tuesday's meeting with the Spurs wasn't exactly must-see TV.

Fear not! Ben Simmons is likely to feature in the lineup tonight in the Sixers' Utah Summer League finale, providing plenty of reason to tune into the matchup with the Jazz. Simmons' blend of athleticism, playmaking and transition dominance was on full display in his debut against the Celtics, and a more efficient night from the field would put a nice bow on his short stay in Salt Lake City.

Simmons was just 2-9 from the field in his debut, but that line isn't all that indicative of his play. Almost every time he decided to turn on the jets and go to the hole, Simmons created a quality look for himself or a teammate, and his typically elite finishing just wasn't up to par. The fact that he was able to create separation early and often against an athletic defender like Jaylen Brown bodes well for the future even if he couldn't get the shots to drop.

Christian Wood's continued rampage and Timothe Luwawu's burst are cherries on top of the Simmons sundae. Game starts at 9 EST, don't be late.
