Another big board, another nail biter. Notre Dame's Demetrius Jackson finally emerged victorious, but beat Utah's Jakob Poeltl by just two votes. Skal Labissiere came in a distant third with just 12 percent of the vote. The Liberty Ballers staff was certainly higher on Jackson than the community was, ranking him as the 13th best prospect on their big board.
I can't imagine he sits this long on draft night, but "man of action" Bryan Colangelo would get high remarks from me if he were to land the 21-year-old with one of their late first round picks.
Poeltl looks like the early favorite to win next round, but truthfully, we should've added St. Joe's DeAndre' Bembry well before this round. Bembry's ability to defend multiple positions makes him pretty covetable, and his jumper did look somewhat improved at the NBA Draft Combine. The staff ranked him at No. 17, and I imagine the community would have taken him off the board a couple of selections ago as well.
Unless they ride for the Austrian assassin Jakob Poeltl, then I'll take that back. Happy voting.
