Sixers assistant coach Mike D'Antoni continues to be linked to head coaching vacancies around the league. After ESPN's Marc Stein reported the 64-year-old would interview for the Houston Rockets job this week, his name is now being tossed around as a candidate for the Indiana Pacers opening.
The Pacers opted to not renew Frank Vogel's contract after six years as the franchise's head coach, and their shortlist of possible replacements includes D'Antoni, according to Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star.
VERY early but here's a surprising list of names I'm hearing of possible #Pacers candidates: D'Antoni, Jackson, Shaw, Wittman, Woodson.

That's far from an awe-inspiring group of former head coaches there. Many believed that former Houston Rockets head coach Kevin McHale would be taking the job in Indiana after withdrawing his name from consideration for the Sacramento Kings job, but team president Larry Bird said he would not hire his former teammate.
There's no word yet on whether D'Antoni will receive an interview, but he seems like an oddly hot commodity this offseason after being out of basketball for 18 months before taking the Sixers assistant job last season.
