Last March, I got the crazy idea to create a Liberty Ballers basketball team to enter in The Basketball Tournament, a winner-take-all, $1 million bracket style competition. The only issue was, I had zero players. By July, the Liberty Ballers squad magically morphed into an eight man roster comprised of local professional basketball players good enough to make a run to TBT's Sweet 17.
Last year's experience was incredible, and with the tournament's return, as well as an increase in prize money to $2 million, we want back in. The roster will include some familiar faces from last year, including Siena and Plymouth-Whitemarsh alumni Ronald Moore, Temple's Ryan Brooks and St. Joe's Garrett Williamson. There will be plenty of new faces as well this summer, including a well known former Sixer that was with the team prior to the rebuild.
We're looking forward to getting the band get back together, be we can't do it without your help. Qualification for The Basketball Tournament is based off of fan support, so please vote for us on our team page here.
If Liberty Ballers wins TBT, the top 100 fans who can gather the most votes will split $200,000 (20% of the $2 million prize), and we may be giving away a couple of items as well. We'll reveal more of the roster once we hit 500 votes.
Make sure to spread the word to your friends, family, co-workers, Sam Hinkie, etc., as it'll help us make the tournament, and put you in line for a little extra money.
Thanks for the support, and go Liberty Ballers.
