Team: Los Angeles Lakers (16-59)
Protections: 1-3 in 2016 and 2017, unprotected in 2018.
Pick Status: The Lakers are seven wins better than the Sixers, all but securing the Sixers will enter the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery with the best odds of obtaining the number one overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. The Lakers are also four wins worse than the Suns, and barring the Lakers going on an unexpected winning streak - the Suns have lost four games in a row - the Lakers are locked into the second best draft lottery odds.
Chance of Conveying: As things stand, the Lakers have a 44.2% chance of falling out the top three and thus conveying their pick to the Sixers. Barring an unforeseen run, these will be the odds come Draft Lottery night.
Team: Miami Heat (43-31)
Protections: 1-10 in 2016, unprotected in 2017.
Pick Status: The Heat are currently in the midst of a scramble for positioning at the bottom of the Eastern Conference in eager anticipation of their inevitable playoff defeat, but where they will pick remains yet a mystery unresolved. The Heat's pick certainly is going to be unprotected and the Heat will almost surely be making the playoffs, but 5.5 games currently separate the Pacers with the 17th draft position and the Hawks with the 24th draft position with the Heat one game ahead of the Hawks and 4.5 games behind the Pacers in the standings with five other teams in the middle. The Heat finish out a Western Conference road trip this week at Sacramento and Portland before finishing the week at home playing the Pistons and Bulls.
Chance of Conveying: It's conveying, the only question is what number.
Team: Oklahoma City Thunder (52-23)
Protections: 1-15 in 2016 and 2017.
Pick Status: The Thunder lost a game this week. I repeat, the Thunder lost a game this week. All hands on deck. All hands on deck! Not really, of course. With the pick protected 1-15 and the Thunder having clinched a playoff berth this pick is guaranteed to the Sixers.
Chance of Conveying: Count it.
Team: Sacramento Kings (30-45)
Protections: Philly has the right to swap their first-round pick with Sacramento's first round pick, as long as it's in the top-10.
Pick Status: The Kings are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. Though the Kings entered this week having lost four of their last five games, this week they won three of four earning victories against the Suns, Mavericks, and Wizards. The Kings now find themselves a half game behind the Knicks for 7th best draft position and two games behind the Pelicans for 6th best draft position while remaining only one game ahead of the Bucks and Nuggets who have the 9th and 10th best draft position, respectively, and two games ahead of the Magic with the 11th best draft position.
Chance of Pick Conveying: If the season ends today, the Kings have a 10% chance of entering the Top 3 in the Draft Lottery. But that's a big "if," because things can still change either way.
