Jerry Colangelo to Sixers fans: "There's one way to go, and that's up"

Jerry Colangelo speaks to Sixers fans on the direction of the franchise.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Sixers have been rolling out a series of ads featuring messages from Sixers brass, and this two-minute video puts the full message from Jerry Colangelo under one (digital) roof:

Colangelo stays consistent in his message here, attempting to convince fans the team is poised to make strides in the right direction without sacrificing the future to do so.

Sixers GM Sam Hinkie (and Brett Brown, for that matter) is relegated to a background role for this one. Make of that what you will, though it could be as simple as the team keeping other productions in the vault for now.

UPDATE: Friend of the blog Anthony Capelli informed us that the Sixers sent this video to season ticket-holders about a month ago, with a Hinkie video surfacing in ticketholder inboxes within the last week to ten days. That video is available for viewing here.

Some highlights from the Hinkie cut:

  • "To try to skip and get to the end without the foundation, it rarely works"
  • "Innovation and togetherness is a big part of what we're trying to do"
  • "We have to be mindful of what got us here, which is a lot of hard work, and a lot of patience and a lot of focus. I think we've done a lot of things to put us in a position where we can be successful, but at the same time, some of those opportunities are about to be in front of us, and we plan to seize those too."
