Sixers recall Jerryd Bayless and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot from 87ers

That was fast.

The Philadelphia 76ers have recalled Jerryd Bayless and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot from the Delaware 87ers, according to the team.

Bayless was assigned to the Sevens on Monday, while Luwawu-Cabarrot was sent to Delaware on Tuesday. Although we previously surmised that the moves were made to get Luwawu-Cabarrot some more playing time and assist in Bayless’s rehab, it seems as though the plan was just to get them some practices.

Philadelphia just wrapped up a two-game road trip with a loss to the Houston Rockets, and had a day off before taking on the Washington Wizards Wednesday evening. Sending the pair of guards to Delaware allowed them to put in extra work while also being able to easily re-join the team in Philly.

The move looks a little bizarre on the surface, but NBA teams with one-to-one D-League affiliates tend to do this on occasion. Expect to see the Sixers continue to utilize the Sevens in that same capacity throughout the year.
