Luwawu-Cabarrot will be joining his Sixers teammate Jerryd Bayless, who was assigned to the Sevens on Monday to rehab his injured left wrist.
The move will certainly be beneficial for the 24th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Although he has appeared in seven out of ten games this season, he’s averaging just 4.6 minutes per contest. Luwawu-Cabarrot saw a season-high nine minutes of action in Monday night’s blowout loss to the Houston Rockets, scoring four points on 2-3 shooting. Spending time in Delaware will allow him to log some serious minutes on a consistent basis, and continue to hone his skills on both ends of the ball.
Luwawu-Cabarrot still counts towards the Sixers 15-man roster, and can be recalled at any given time. His assignment hopefully means that Bayless could be returning sooner rather than later, as Philadelphia now has just four healthy guards on the roster.
